This webpage lists all of the EHS training by program area. They can be searched using a specific term or filtered by program. Click on the course name to open the description. The narratives explain who needs to take the training, if it is required or recommended, If it is a one-time training or needs to be taken more than once, the format of the training, and provides a link to the training and program webpage.
Note to Students: If you are not receiving compensation from Penn State and you have not yet taken a class on Penn State’s Learning Resource Network (LRN), you will first need to create an account using your Penn State access account. Navigate to the LRN and click on "Login to LRN.” The links below will then take you to the correct training.

Aerial/Scissor Lifts
Aerial Lift/Boom Types of Lifts
This course is required for employees who operate aerial lifts during their work. The training consists of two parts – an online module and a document that contains supplemental material specific to Penn State. In addition, your supervisor must provide you with hands-on training and a hands-on evaluation (driving test). Every three years you must have your driving skills re-evaluated.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- If the equipment has a boom (extends the platform outward horizontally from the base of the machine) then you must complete Aerial Lift / Boom Types of Lifts course.
- If the equipment only lifts the platform vertically (straight up and down) then you must complete the Scissor Lift / Single Person Types of Lifts course.
- If you operate both types of equipment then you must complete both courses.
Aerial/Scissor Lift Train the Trainer
This course is a one-time required training for supervisors or other employees who are responsible for conducting hands-on training and evaluations of aerial/scissor lift operators. This instructor-led training involves a review of the PSU Aerial/Scissor Lift program, an overview of the evaluation process, and instructions on how to conduct hands-on training and perform evaluations.
TRAINING AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. THERE ARE NO REGULARLY SCHEDULED CLASSES FOR THIS TRAINING COURSE.
