This webpage lists all of the EHS training by program area. They can be searched using a specific term or filtered by program. Click on the course name to open the description. The narratives explain who needs to take the training, if it is required or recommended, If it is a one-time training or needs to be taken more than once, the format of the training, and provides a link to the training and program webpage.
Note to Students: If you are not receiving compensation from Penn State and you have not yet taken a class on Penn State’s Learning Resource Network (LRN), you will first need to create an account using your Penn State access account. Crane, Hoist, & Sling Safety
Bridge Crane Operator Training/Evaluation
This training and documented evaluation is a one-time requirement for employees who are required to utilize a Bridge Crane. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that this hands-on training and documented evaluation occur.

Crane and Hoist - Competent Monthly Inspector Training (OPP/ARL/Commonwealth Campuses Only)
This is a one-time required training for employees who have been designated to conduct monthly inspections of cranes/hoists. This is not intended for crane and hoist users. The training covers inspection guidelines.
NOTE: Prerequisite for this course is the completion of EHS - Crane, Hoist, and Sling Training.
TRAINING IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. THERE ARE NO REGULARLY SCHEDULED CLASSES FOR THIS TRAINING COURSE.
LRN Course Registration Crane, Hoist, & Sling Safety Program
Crane, Hoist, & Sling Safety
This is a one-time required training for employees who operate cranes and hoists. This training covers safe work practices that must be followed when operation of a crane or hoist is necessary. The training consists of two online modules and a supplemental document.
Sling Annual Inspection Training
This is a one-time required training for employees who have been designated to conduct annual inspections of slings. This is not intended for sling users. The training covers inspection guidelines.
