Occupational Safety develops injury prevention programs and provides guidance to assist the University community in identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards. These efforts help to protect employees, students, and visitors while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
OSHA and Occupational Safety at Penn State
Occupational safety at Penn State is guided by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and supported through the University’s Workplace Safety and Health programs. Through Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Penn State takes a proactive approach to identifying workplace hazards and managing them through effective controls, training, and safe work practices. By incorporating OSHA‑based principles into daily operations across offices, labs, shops, and field environments, Penn State supports healthy workplaces, reduces risk, and reinforces a shared responsibility for safety across the University community.
