This course is required for employees who operate aerial lifts during their work.  The training consists of two parts – an online module and a document that contains supplemental material specific to Penn State.  In addition, your supervisor must provide you with hands-on training and a hands-on evaluation (driving test).  Every three years you must have your driving skills re-evaluated.

  • If the equipment has a boom (extends the platform outward horizontally from the base of the machine) then you must complete Aerial Lift / Boom Types of Lifts course.
  • If the equipment only lifts the platform vertically (straight up and down) then you must complete the Scissor Lift / Single Person Types of Lifts course.
  • If you operate both types of equipment then you must complete both courses.
